‘There should be no discrimination in visa to Indians’
New Delhi, Dec 11: Against the backdrop of China issuing stapled visa to two archers from Arunachal Pradesh recently, government today said it has been conveyed to the neighbouring country on several occasions that there should be no discrimination against visa applicants on grounds of domicile and ethnicity.
Replying to a question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur said the issuance of visas by India and China is guided by the provisions of an MoU on simplifying visa procedures signed by the two governments in June. "Government's position that there should be no discrimination against visa applicants of Indian nationals on grounds of domicile and ethnicity has been clearly conveyed to the Chinese government on several occasions and at the highest level," she said.

Along with the PRI members and public leaders of Lumla, the MLA paid tribute to late Tashi Lungten, consoled the family members and assured assistance to his wife.
Born in 1986, Lungten graduated from Mysore University in the years 2010 and was recently elected as the Anchal Samiti Member (ASM) of Kharteng village in Lumla. Lungten is survived by his wife and a son.
“I have no words to express my condolence to his family for the heartache they have to overcome. With his demise, I have lost a brother, a friend and a sincere leader. Tagung calls on Union minister
NEW DELHI, Dec 11: Arunachal Pradesh Bamboo Resources and Development Agency (APBRDA) Vice Chairman Yora Tagung has called on Union Minister of State for Rural Development Pradeep Jain here today.
During the discussion the minister asked them to submit different project proposals to his ministry and also promised to sanction the proposals in coming days for Arunachal Pradesh, according to a release.

Addressing the participants in the review meeting, WCD Minister Newlai Tingkhatra informed that his department is implementing so many important programmes and schemes for social and economic empowerment of women and ensure holistic development and protection of children through a host of policies, legislations, programmes, schemes and awareness generation activities.
He instructed all officers for constitution of all committees at district, block and village level by 15th January, 2014. He further said all Anganwadi Workers and Helpers should be covered under Anganwadi Karyakartri Yojana. The Deputy Directors and CDPOs and other field functionaries should undertake periodic and surprise visit to assess the ground realities, the minister said adding that convergence meeting with line departments like health services, PHE and RD etc. should be organized regularly at project and district level.
The minister further said that all kinds of reports and returns sought from the government should be furnished in time bound manner so that the decision making process should not hamper. Implementation of various Acts and policies should be ensured.
Tingkhatra also requested all officers to work with utmost sincerity and with a missionary zeal for holistic empowerment, development, protection and welfare of women and children of Arunachal Pradesh and pave the way for the development of the State. State to host 4th eNorth East Award Summit

State Govt to extend full sponsorship to cadets from Arunachal in NDA: Governor
ITANAGAR, Dec 11: Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma announced that the State Government will extend full sponsorship to 10 cadets from Arunachal Pradesh in the National Defence Academy. He made the announcement while commemorating the Golden Jubilee of the 29th course of NDA, to which he belongs to at National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, near Pune, Maharashtra on Dec 9.
The Governor expressed his confidence that this initiative of the State Government will encourage youth of the State to join the premier institute of the armed forces as officers.
Recalling his joining to NDA in 1963 on the occasion, Governor said that he along with many others came from a different social, economic and regional canvas but it never came in the way of anything meaningful as they mingled, played, fought, trained hard and went through the grind together to come out of the NDA melting pot in a distinct mould.
Stating that NDA has immensely contributed to the nation as the premier joint training institution and reposing his faith in the present establishment of NDA, Governor said that the cadets will live upto the standards set for them and do the country proud. Adding that NDA continue to be centre of excellence in producing leaders for the Indian Armed Forces, Governor hopes that more and more youth, especially from Arunachal Pradesh join the institute.

Burning of electoral documents condemned
CEO urged to publish final electoral roll
ITANAGAR, Dec 11: Condemnation over burning of electoral documents of Kurung Kumey district near Hawa Camp recently are pouring in from various political parties and Panchayat leaders.
Taking serious view of the incident, the Kurung Kumey district unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in a release said that this particular unlawful act committed allegedly by a legislator of the ruling Congress government is a big slap on the face of the chief minister and a big blow to the Congress party in the state.
“This act has directly exposed the ill intents of few elite members of the party and the State Government,” the district BJP unit said in a release.
The party feared that the day is not far when monocracy will take over the reign of the state.
It urged the law enforcing authority and the state government to initiate legal and disciplinary action against the perpetrator(s) of the crime in order to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future.
Condemning the act of burning electoral documents in their strongest term, some ZPMs of Kurung Kumey district, in a joint representation, have urged the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Arunachal Pradesh for early publication of the final electoral rolls of the district.

Yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling that red beacon light can only be used by high dignitaries holding constitutional posts while on duty is a welcome news for the ordinary citizens of state. The court passed the order on a PIL filed by Uttar Pradesh resident Abhay Singh on misuse of red beacon. A bench headed by Justice G S Singhvi asked the Centre to issue a fresh list of people eligible for using red beacon on their vehicles and asked the government to amend the rule within three months.
The apex court ruling is a big relief for the people of this state who are tired of VIP culture. The street of capital complex and district headquarters are filled with vehicles belonging to so called VIPs. All these vehicles fitted with red beacon are blatantly misused. Even those govt officials uses red beacon that are not authorized. The police and concern authorities have totally failed to check the illegal use of red beacon. After this new ruling by Supreme Court it will be interesting to see whether authorities will crack down on these illegal VIPs in the days to come.

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I wish to draw the attention of the authorities against
rowdy students. On 7/12/13 I was traveling from Naharlagun to Nirjuli. After travelling
few kilometers, I saw a huge crowd gathered near highway. I was interested to know
what was going there. Then the tempo driver said, “Kaam nahi hai yaha ke student
ko jo bhi non APST dikhe aise hi marta hain”. Then I saw 3 students in school uniform
beating a pedestrian. I don’t know what was the reason for which man was beaten up?
The students were so brutal and were beating that helpless man like anything. Everyone
was standing there and was just enjoying the show. No one dared to stop them. There
was blood was all over his face and I think he became unconscious. Students were
also using abusive words while beating him. Then one of the traveler said-
I really felt bad at that time. Students who are called backbone of a nation, society, a boon for mankind and servant for humanity are called goon nowadays. I am not condemning anyone neither I am trying to say that everyone are alike. I am just highlighting the fact that is not revealed. Because of the mistake of couple of members the entire student community is blamed.
Today people are not scared of rogue or crook element rather they are much afraid of terror of students. If this is the present situation of our society, I hope all of you know the future consequences very well. We will live in a society full of goons.
This is not the only incident, there are many other such instances when our fellow brothers hailing from other states have been treated so badly.
We say that we are living in a civilized society and are against every crime. But from that incident I don’t think we are. The onlookers were not civilized as they didn’t raise any voice against the crime that was happening in front of their eyes. The students were not civilized either. Even me, I was not acting like civilized citizen because everyone including myself kept silence and did not tried to intervene.

I on behalf of SSA teaching fraternity would like to express our misery and sorrow in the column of your esteemed daily. We are struggling to meet our day because we have not been paid our salary for last many months.
Being a teacher we don’t have any other source to meet our livelihood other than getting salary. We are facing immense misery and sorrow in this Christmass and New Year time. It is the time when people celebrate with friends and family members. But in case of us we are tense and have no money to spend. My earnest request is that please release our salary in this festive month, so that we can at least spend some amount on our children and family members like other people do.
